Born and bred in West Cumbria, my father was one of the last miners before the pits closed and my great grandad was a production potter, making chimney pots in Nuneaton. I now live in Moss Side with my family and am an assistant supporting people with learning disabilities. I take inspiration from the fells, lakes, nature, wild swimming, spirituality and the daily grind. People with learning disabilities teach me about mutuality, connectedness, slowing down, interdependence, and inclusion which have become important to me and influence my work.
I enjoy the experience of the beginner’s mind and love being immersed in throwing clay, the flow, rhythm and simplicity. The immediacy of using my hands in clay and making something useful and creative that others will love and cherish.
