I started Thirty Eight in 2016 after teaching myself the basics of making rings from Youtube videos and reading articles online. I’d seen my uncle make amazing jewellery from being very young so I always fancied a go, but the main problem with having jewellery as a hobby is that it’s expensive. I decided to start selling some of the stuff I’d made to buy more metal and stones to keep the hobby going and within 12 months it had (luckily!) became my full time job. I had to give up my day job as I was now spending hours every day making orders for people all over the world. In the last 10 years I’ve managed to build the business and my skills massively. I now have a little shop/studio in Ancoats where I have managed to build an unreal local customer base who keep me busy day to day, I also have online shops (website and Etsy – new one coming very soon!) and I try to do as many markets as I can. I’m also now teaching other people how to make jewellery too (including a few Makers Market sellers!).
My work is usually minimalist classic styles done in a modern way, finished to the highest standard. I really take pride in my work and I can guarantee that if you ask me to make you something it will be done to the best standard money can buy. I have a range of jewellery that I sell online, in store and at markets, and I also do commissions. Hopefully see you at a market soon!
