The Honest Potter is a small pottery studio in West Derby, Liverpool, making useful stoneware one firing at a time. My work includes mugs, bowls, jugs, vases, plates and occasional experimental pieces, all made in small batches with a focus on form, feel and the character of the glaze.
This is a working studio rather than a production line. Designs develop through making, testing and using them, and the small variations in each piece are part of their handmade character. I am particularly interested in practical pots that feel good in the hand, generous bowls and layered glaze surfaces.
Alongside finished pieces, I share studio experiments and work in progress, and offer local bisque and glaze firing in my 40-litre kiln. Enquiries about available pieces, commissions and kiln space are always welcome.
