I am an ex-journalist, who was the arts editor, TV critic and travel editor of the Manchester Evening News and a lecturer in journalism at two universities. But I have returned to my first love of painting, which I studied at art school, and I now specialise in hand-painted northern poster art. My one aim: to make art fun, combining a love of words and visual imagery. My work concentrates mainly on the districts surrounding Manchester, where I was born, but also includes London and counties of the North West. The work is both subversive and affectionate, highlighting the quirks and peculiarities of a place.
