Power Stitch Studio is a small UK-based handmade business creating crochet and knitted home décor, accessories, and gifts, made thoughtfully and with care.
I’m a neurodivergent, disabled creative and a former music teacher, now working in education in a way that allows me to work from home — a change that has made a significant difference to my quality of life. Like many AuDHD people, I love learning new skills and exploring creative hobbies. While many come and go, occasionally one becomes a true passion.
In August 2025, after searching for the perfect scarf and never quite finding one I loved, I decided to try making my own. One tutorial quickly led to another, and I began knitting and experimenting with yarn, textures, and patterns. Regular visits to my local wool shop in Darwen — a welcoming creative space offering knitting and crochet classes — helped me develop my skills further, and it was there that I learned to crochet.
In December 2025, I became seriously unwell and was forced to slow down during my recovery. Crochet became a calming, grounding practice during that time — allowing me to rest while creating, and to reconnect with my creativity in a gentler, more intentional way.
By Christmas, I was gifting handmade scarves, hats, bags, fingerless gloves, crochet toys for babies, blankets, and cushion covers to friends and family. The response was overwhelming, with many people asking where the pieces came from and encouraging me to sell my handmade work.
Power Stitch Studio grew from that encouragement — a place for handmade crochet and knit pieces, created in small batches, designed for comfort, and made to be used and loved. Every item is handmade by me in the UK, with attention to detail and a belief that everyday objects can be both beautiful and meaningful.
