Hi, my name is Lou and I’ve been delving into the world of ceramics at a local studio and at Macclesfield college for 18 months. I have been honing my craft by naturally turning to my specific interest in animals, and in particular, dogs. Peaki Pots were inspired by making a dish for my cocker spaniel, Peach, who we affectionately call Miss Peaki. As I am based in the High Peak, the name ‘Peaki Pots’ fell straight into place when deciding to make more as they have been so popular with family and friends!
Each dish is created with care and attention although I’m always surprised as the little animal characters emerge in my hands from the raw clay. They don’t always become dogs, I also make cats, bears, pigs, even hens and fish – anything people enjoy looking at.
Once they are fired, then glazed, the Peaki Pots seem to take on personalities of their own, each looking at me as if to say ‘I’m ready for my new owner please’!
I’d be delighted to meet you at the next Makers Market, where you are welcome to choose your Peaki Pot or arrange to have one made with your own furry (feathered or scaled!) friend in mind, especially for you.
