I’m an author, artist, and Tarot reader based in Manchester, selling my debut novella, ‘The Story Of The Deer Woman’, published by Lemon Jelly Press in February 2026.
The book is a lyrical, dark, slightly unhinged, adult fairytale set across Manchester city centre and beyond, weaving through places such as Manchester Museum, John Rylands Library, Heaton Park, Alderley Edge, Sale, Dunham Massey, and so many more recognisable Manchester places. It’s the tale of three women, unapologetic, full of messy desire, and it’s an allegory for the power of women and the city that I grew up in and love! Tarot also features throughout the story.
Alongside signed copies of the novella, I’ll also be offering Tarot readings as ‘The Nomadic Tarot Mistress’. I’ve previously read Tarot in speakeasies in Bangkok and Saigon, as well as at marina bars and tapas spots in Málaga.
Markets are genuinely in my blood for both my dad and grandparents were traders too, and I’ve personally sold artwork at Manchester markets and craft fairs for over 20 years. I love creating warm, engaging stalls and connecting with people passing by. My first book festival appearance at Fiction Fest this year was a huge success, and I’d love to bring that same energy to The Makers Market.
Thank you so very much,
Heidi Hinda Chadwick
