Fonëì ( flavours of Northeast India )

We grew up eating this. You deserve to taste it. Something arrived in Manchester that you have never seen on a UK shelf before. The UK's first authentic Naga fermented meat pickle, and once you try it, you will wonder where it has been your whole life.

About

Have you ever tried meat pickle?

Probably not. But you are about to discover something that has existed for centuries, and has never been available in the UK,
until now.

This is Fonëì. It means flavours of Northeast India. And it is the UK’s first authentic Naga fermented meat pickle, handcrafted right here in Manchester.

What is it?

Fonëì is a traditional fermented meat pickle from Nagaland, a small state tucked in the hills of Northeast India, near the border with Myanmar.
The Naga people have been making this for centuries. Slow cooked meat, fermented soybean paste, ghost chilli, and traditional spices, preserved
the old way, in oil, the real way.
Think of it like this,  if kimchi and miso had a deeply satisfying, slightly spicy, utterly addictive cousin from the hills of Northeast India. That is Fonëì.

What does it taste like?

Rich. Deeply savoury. Warm heat that builds slowly rather than hitting you all at once. The kind of flavour that makes you reach for another spoonful before you have finished the first.

What do you eat it with?

Everything. Genuinely everything.

Rice :  the classic pairing.
One spoon on top of steamed rice and dinner is sorted.

Noodles : stir it through. Thank us later.

Eggs : scrambled, fried, boiled. All of them. Every time.

Flatbread : tear, dip, repeat.

Grilled meat : alongside or as a marinade. Both are correct.

Pasta : yes. Really. Try it.

This is not a condiment.
This is a top up.

One jar. Your food will never be boring again.

Three variants:

  • Chicken Halal
  • Pork
  • Mixed (Chicken + Pork)

Handcrafted in Manchester.
From a tradition centuries old.
Made by a medical microbiologist
with Naga and Garo heritage.
The real way. No shortcuts.
No compromises.

You deserve to taste it
