Hi, I’m Katy, the maker behind Bead & Gone.
I create handmade, one-of-a-kind beaded jewellery from my home studio, purely for the love of it.
Jewellery making has been part of my life on and off for many years. It first began in my early 20s, when I couldn’t work following a brain tumour diagnosis. Creating with beads gave me something positive to focus on — and that love of making has stayed with me ever since.
Today, Bead & Gone is my creative escape from a very full life. By day, I’m a copywriter and web editor; outside of that I’m heavily involved in musical theatre, event management, and various voluntary roles. Making jewellery is my mental health break — a chance to slow down, switch off, and create just for the joy of it.
I never repeat a design. Every piece is unique, and once it’s sold, it’s gone for good. I also love reimagining unloved jewellery, so many of my designs incorporate recycled or repurposed pieces, given a new lease of life.
I work with whatever materials inspire me — glass, clay, resin, acrylic, metal — if it can be turned into something beautiful, I’ll give it a go. I also create bespoke pieces to your design: if you have an idea, I’ll help bring it to life.
At its heart, Bead & Gone is simply a passion project. I love beads, I love being creative, and I love making jewellery that’s as individual as the people who wear it.
