I’m Paula Payne, the artist behind Arboretum Print Co — a maker of nature-inspired lino prints and expressive contemporary marquetry. My work draws on my lifelong fascination with trees and their symbolic power to represent growth, resilience, and connection.
I combine hand-carved lino prints with delicate veneer inlays, infusing each piece with the warmth and richness of natural wood. The marquetry elements catch the light like fragments of jewels, creating a sense of depth and quiet luxury that invites closer looking. Each artwork is made slowly and intentionally, celebrating the grain, texture, and imperfections that make every piece unique.
My creative process is guided by craftsmanship and care — carving, pressing, and finishing each piece by hand in my home studio. The result is artwork that feels intimate and enduring: one-of-a-kind pieces that bridge traditional craft and contemporary design.
Alongside my art practice, I teach Art & Design, which keeps my creative energy alive and rooted in sharing ideas. I’m passionate about sustainability and about making art that reflects the beauty and fragility of the world around us.
Every Arboretum Print Co piece is a small, precious celebration of nature — a handcrafted reminder that art, like the trees it honours, has its own quiet, lasting strength.
